This ongoing activity is part of HORMOBIOME’s patient and public engagement strategy to foster dialogue and shared understanding around hormone-microbiome interactions in autoimmune conditions. In collaboration with Sjögren’s syndrome patient associations, including Asociación Española de Síndrome de Sjögren (AESJOGREN), research-based concepts related to saliva-associated physiological changes and oral microbial ecosystem alterations are discussed in an accessible, evidence-informed manner.
These engagement activities connect microbiome research with patient experience, strengthening dialogue between researchers, clinicians and patient communities, and supporting informed perspectives on disease mechanisms without delivering clinical interventions. Selected sessions are accompanied by public-facing educational materials and recorded talks to extend reach and scientific literacy.
