Meet the Team

HORMOBIOME brings together an interdisciplinary research team spanning microbiology, bioinformatics, dentistry, clinical sciences and data analysis. The team includes postdoctoral researchers, doctoral candidates and early-career scientists working collaboratively across experimental and computational approaches to address complex questions at the hormone–microbiome interface.

HormoBiome

Principal Investigator
Aurea Simon-Soro

Principal Investigator

Associate Professor. University of Seville (Spain)

Aurea Simon-Soro, DMD, PhD

Leads HORMOBIOME by defining conceptual and quantitative frameworks at the hormone–microbiome interface. Her research integrates microbial ecology, hormonal biology and data-driven approaches to understand how hormone-microbiome interactions shape health trajectories.

Building on domain expertise in oral and mucosal microbiomes, her work is not limited to a single anatomical niche, focusing instead on generalizable principles relevant to women’s health and complex disease contexts.
